 The Alytus Region Business Association is currently managed by a president and 11-member board, who are acting voluntarily. Currently the Association has 290 companies from across different business sectors.

Description

 

The main functions of Alytus Region Business Association are in the support, preparation and supervision of projects which will help develop the business environment in Alytus county.

For example, current projects include “Establishment of Wood Industry Technologies Demonstration Centre in Alytus”. The main goal of this project is to improve the skills and qualifications of employees of wood processing companies and support the establishment of a ‘wood cluster’ in Southern Lithuania.

 In 2002 Alytus Region Business Association founded the “Business Cooperation Centre of Southern Lithuania”, whose main function is to support cooperation between business in order to reduce costs, search for new customers, establish purchasers and markets, and seek new employees and other services.

  • Project “Development of Wood Enterprises Cluster and Promotion of Cross Border Co-operation“, implemented by public organization “South Lithuanian Business Co-operation Centre” (founder Alytus Region Business Association), 2007
  • Project “International Clusters’ Business Mission - Integration into International Wood Clusters’ Network”, implemeted by Alytus Region Business Association, President Aldona Dalia Matukienė, project funded by National Support Fund, Lithuanian Ministry of Economy, 2008.
  • Project “Alytus and Balstogė - Suvalkai Regions’ Business Cooperation Development and Increase of Competitiveness in EU Markets“, implemented by public organization “South Lithuanian Business Co-operation Centre” (founder Alytus Region Business Association), Lithuanian and Polish Cross-border Cooperation Small Project fund – special Lithuanian and Polish Cross-border Cooperation Programme Funding Scheme for small projects, 2009
  • Project “Establishment of Lithuanian and Polish International Training and Business Centre”, implemented by public organization “South Lithuanian Business Co-operation Centre” (founder Alytus Region Business Association), Project is partly funded by European Territorial Cooperation Objective Lithuanian and Polish Cross-border Cooperation programme, Small Project Fund, 2010
